New Poster Registered: Posts: 22 Posted Hi gang! I have a question about this heater I bought on ebay. Is the wick normally wrapped with wire? When I checked the wick it had about 4 or 5 wraps of safety wire at the top.

Of course I didn't know what I was looking at or how high the wick should be. It is kinda hard to light & only glows well with the ceiling fan on (out on the patio). Any help or thoughts appreciated.

Registered: Posts: 2,294 Posted Although I don't have the exact model as yours, I do have two of this type of heater and two of the other similar catalytic heaters. I have had all of them apart and between the two different wick tyrpes, plus an OEM replacement wick (that's 5 wick total), I have never seen wire wrap anywhere on any of the them.

Perhaps the previous owner tried to pull the wick up and wire it in place to compensate for a problem with the wick yoke or handle or maybe a clogged wick problem (wrong fuel used)? __________________ The other Mike __________________.
