Outcast Resolution Patch
Guys, I could swear that I came across an experimental beta Outcast patch that redid the graphic drivers for the game so it could use D3D, high-resolution and even pixel shaders. I even remember that the water was pixel shaded. And I could SWEAR that I saw the link to that patch somewhere on Rage3D. I can't find it for the life of me though.:bleh: I think that experimental patch would solve my brother's problems.
You can't accelerate voxels. In any case, I do remember mention of that as well. Byt the meps/models were converted to polygons. Maybe it wasn't even a patch, but a hack job sequel? I do remember what you are talking about though.
The water was 'pixel shaded' by default. And i don't think such patch exists.
Run it in high resolution. Want to play Jedi Outcast at 1080p? Jedi Outcast doesn't need any mods or patches to run well on modern Windows.
Nope, it DOES exist. I found the thread, after looking for everything under the sun related to Outcast on the PC gaming boards. Outcast Lives Forever (fan project) = That's the link (which currently isn't working, at least for me), and this is the thread: Like the thread says, you couldn't really play the game with that special patch, you could open maps and check them out in all their high-res glory, but that was a year ago, perhaps they've improved on it so that the game's playable.?:) [edit]: I still can't get to their site. I hope it's just my stupid ISP's fault and not that the server's actually down, but look at what else I found traipsing around the Net?:D That is an early beta version of Outcast that supported.
There's no such patch to add pixel shader. This engine doesn't support 3D acceleration. Cancionero Jose Alfredo Jimenez Pdf.
Scenes are made of voxels (3D pixel) and it runs purely on CPU. In 1999 when the game was release voxel engine was good alternative to standard. Malaysia Radio V3 Software here.
All previous Delta Force games and Comanche was made on Voxel Technology. But 3D video card took off while CPU didn't and that's why no developers support Voxel engine anymore and I doubt they will. And the water is best looking even now. I don't recall any game were water reacts that naturally to your character.
Maybe water in today's games reflects all surrounding but behaves artificial. Nope, it DOES exist.
